how do the NT writers understand the OT?

This is an awesome discussion. Two recent books should be helpful on this. This is an important question for anybody who reads the Bible.

Echoes of Scripture in the Letters of Paul is also a good one... I don't remember anything that it says, though... maybe I should reread it...

and Dr. Murray at NGU wrote his dissertation on the use of the Old Testament in Hebrews... i think he did... of course I remember some people who apparently thought that he was some sort of heretic... i thought he was pretty dang cool... but thats beside the point...
