Great article. I was especially interested in how churches spend most of their money on their own buildings. Perhaps people are keeping some of their money to direct to other causes.

An anecdotal story: I pastor a house church. We have no building, so almost no overhead. Yet from just a few families, we're collecting about $30K. We have nothing to spend the money on in house, and I think people know it will go to a good purpose.
